Athletic Scholarships
Depending on the institution and their institutional rules:
To receive these academic and athletic rewards a first-time student-athlete must be recognized by their institution as full-time, or a returning student must have successfully met the minimum eligibility.
A CCAA student-athlete has to be registered and attending a minimum nine credits (or equivalent based on each institution’s registrar) in each semester in which they participate in CCAA to be eligible. In Quebec, full-time status is a minimum of four courses or 12 hours. In subsequent years a minimum of six (6) credits per semester must be passed to maintain CCAA status. Each institution has exceptions, so be sure to contact the administration. A CCAA athlete must maintain a 2.50 GPA.
- Within CCAA regulations student-athletes can receive a progressive scholarship award (PSA) of $500 to $1,000 per semester, depending on the year of participation and sport.
- There are also athletic bursaries available, up to $2,500 per academic year.
- An additional $500 can be awarded depending on participation, and a maximum of $150 per semester can be awarded for academic honours.
